How We Got Started in Travel PT

November 5, 2022

Hey fam! We wanted to share our story of how we got started in travel PT.

We had no idea how much travel physical therapy would change our lives. From working our butts off for private owned physical therapy companies, to working at a new clinic in a new place with new people every 4-6 months.

Adam started looking into travel physical therapy when we graduated PT school in 2018. He was inspired by fifthwheelpt.com (shout out to Whitney and Jared and all of their super helpful content), and he even had a 5th wheel and new truck picked out! We decided that there was still so much to learn and wanted to be the best physical therapists we could be, so we moved to Houston to get our Fellowship. It was the best decision for us and one that we would do over and over again.

In 2022, after 3 busy years, we completed our fellowship and decided that Houston was not where we saw ourselves raising our family. Travel therapy came into the picture again.

I was nervous to leave the stability of a perm job, an amazing work family, and being driving distance to my family. Adam was ready to go and convinced me of all of the potential of working in travel healthcare. So, we left Houston and we have never looked back (although we do miss our Houston people).

This experience has taken us out of our comfort zone, and taught us more about “going with the flow” and being more flexible (with everything). We have gotten to live and explore beautiful new areas of the country and have met incredible people in the travel community. It is such a tight knit community and we have been treated like family from the start. They have inspired us to take advantage of the flexibility that comes with travel therapy. We are so grateful for this experience and we decided to start this travel blog to share in our adventures and inspire others to take the leap.  The best part is that we are just getting started 🙂

As our good friend Joe says, it will all work out 🙂
